Founded in 1141 as a Benedictine cell to the Abbey of Gloucester, Ewenny Priory has been described as “the most complete and impressive Norman building in Glamorgan”.
The Norman Church and surrounding fortifications date back to 1115 and its unique features include the monastic transept and presbytery (painted by JMW Turner in c 1797), the Columbarium (with accommodation for a thousand birds and perhaps the largest dovecot in Wales) and a magnificent view over a 60 acre Medieval Deer Park and surrounding woodland.
The grounds of the Priory provide unique, peaceful and magnificent surroundings for a marquee wedding celebration within the walls of a Norman castle. With plenty of room to handle up to 250+ guests and ample parking out of sight of the main venue, Ewenny Priory acts as a blank canvass onto which you can ‘paint’ your perfect wedding day.
Ewenny Priory does not provide a ‘revolving door’ service for weddings. You can treat the place as your own for the whole weekend and use the venue as you please.
You have exclusive access to the grounds of Ewenny Priory onto which you can configure what you need for a wonderful wedding celebration – Marquee/Tipi/Yurt, catering, music, fireworks and other entertainment – the possibilities are as great as your imagination!
